Description: The Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP)-World Bank (WB) team, in collaboration with the Government of Namibia, is launching a national energy survey aiming to have a more granular picture of current energy access and affordability issues in Namibia. Namibia aims to achieve universal access to electricity by 2040 (Government of the Republic of Namibia - Ministry of Mines and Energy 2021).[1] The government recognizes the vital role of electricity in socio-economic development, particularly in rural areas where access is limited compared to urban centers. Emphasis is on leveraging local renewable energy resources for both on- and off-grid solutions, aiming for reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity services.
